Use of micro organisms in cotton crop can raise yield: Experts

The use of micro organisms in cotton crop can be economically beneficial for the farmers, as it can increase yield by 10 per cent, besides improving quality of production.The farmers were already using micro organisms in other crops by way of injections, which had encouraging results for increasing production.

''Now, the scientists of the University have identified organism for cotton crop as well. These micro organisms are capable of absorbing nitrogen from atmosphere and providing it to the plants, converting insoluble phosphate of soil into soluble phosphate and protecting cotton plants from diseases,'' he said.

The spokesman said these micro organism were available in the form of injections. These would increase cotton yields as well as improve the health of soil.
